Just Horsin' Around

2:13 / 26.4

I did the reverse route of the one I did on Monday.  I actually took some pix this time!

When I was a few miles from home, I looked down at my cycle computer and here's what I saw;

I've gone 1,000 miles since I started riding on June 8th.
1,000,000 more miles to go!

Started Late But Ended Up Great

2:14 / 28.3

I overslept and almost didn't go for a ride, but changed my mind and got on the road.

I did 2:14 on Monday, but today I went 2 miles further in the same amount of time.

The weather was nice and cool, for a change.  Traffic was light and not a single dog chased me.

For the first time since I started riding my trike, I wasn't nearly as tired as I usually am after a 25+ mile ride.

I was on a familiar route and didn't see anything worthy of a photo.

Just so you have something to look at, I took a few pix of our dog, Chico;

Running Errands

1:38 / 18.8

I got a late start.  I pedaled the 2 miles to the Fire Station and voted and then rode to the post office and picked up the mail.  After that, I headed home.  Short and sweet and no pix.

Another Day Another Ride

2:14 / 26.4

Just another ride on another familiar route.

Nothing worth reporting.

No pix.

Going To The Post Office

2:36 / 31.5

Another beautiful Saturday morning for a ride. It started off with another beautiful sunrise;

I headed down the road and stopped to take some pix
of another abandoned building I've gone past a few times.

This is the old local post office

As you can tell by the shadows, there was a chain link fence around the building, so I had to shoot over it.

I kept taking pix over or through the fence, until I saw this;

                                There weren't any signs telling me keep out, so I went in for a closer look;
You can see my trike at the corner of the fence.

I think this is an old "Candy" sign from the abandoned grocery store
that's around the corner from the post office.
I didn't take pix of the front of the store because
it was just a bunch of boarded up windows.

Okay, now let's go around back to see the other side
                                                 of the post office and that old grocery store;

This is the post office.

Obviously, this is the back of the grocery store.

This is the only tax refund I'll see this year!

The screen door at the rear of the grocery store was standing open, so I took this pic.

However, as I stood there and was wondering if I should go in and look around, the batteries in my camera died! It's just as well, because I got this strange feeling and was hearing that little voice in my head telling me I shouldn't go any further. That picther on the shelf had some sort of liquid in it and there were a couple of plastic cups, as well. I wasn't sure if someone was camping out in there or not. I decided to leave. No use in going in if I can't take any more pix, anyway.

I got back on the road and headed over to the new post office
to get the mail and then I rode around for a couple hours and went home.

Smooth Roads and a Friendly Dog

2:22 / 28.4

I went for a ride on one of my regular routes.
I stopped at the post office and picked up the mail, took aride through the local park and headed home.
A very nice ride and I got home before it even started to get hot.

This is my favorite stretch of road.
Five miles long, gentle downhill slope, smooth as glass
and only one traffic light that is green 99% of the time.
There is little to no traffic early in the morning.

Abstract art or is it just a chunk of concrete with some twisted rebar?

Two Tired To Rock and Roll

I stopped to take a break and when I started pedaling away,
 I saw this and turned around to go back and take a picture.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of insect this is?

This VERY friendly pooch greeted me as I was going down a quiet back road.
I stopped and she walked right up and licked my arm and just stared at me until I petted her.

After blessing me with her presence for about 5 minutes, she walked a few feet away from me and laid down in the shade...in the middle of the road!Don't worry.  It's a very quiet road and she moves when any cars are in the area.I've seen this dog a few times before and she lives just a few feet from here.  I think she has appointed herself as the Neighborhood Watchdog.  If she didn't have a collar and tags, I would've gladly taken her home.  She is one of the quietest and most gentle dogs I've ever seen.

After being chased by yappy Chihuahuas and other little mutts, it was nice to meet a friendly dog.

First Night Ride

2:24 / 26.3

I decided to get on the road a little earlier than usual and try riding while it was still dark.  It was nice to have the cooler temperatures, but it's kind of boring since you really can't see anything.

I think I'll stick to riding right as the sun comes up.

Other than that, it was just another day on familiar roads.

Sorry, no pix this time.

Sunday Rainbow

3:06 / 40.0

I got on the road a little earlier than usual today and saw a beautiful sunrise followed by a rainbow.

It use to take me 3 hours to do 30 miles, but today, I did 40 miles in 3 hours and 6 minutes.

My legs must be getting stronger.  It's about time!

Here are the pix I took this morning;

This is the start of the 4 mile bike path I ride on every week.

This is the Santa Cruz River.
It's right next to the bike path.

A Perfect Ride!

2:27 / 30.4

Beautiful weather, smooth roads, only 2 small dogs chased me, and they were rather funny to watch and then I went home.  Not too exciting to read about, but I had a blast.

This is the end of the bike path.
That road leads to I-10, which is right around the corner.

Wednesday Wride

2:53 / 34.9

I decided to do a ride more for exercise instead of just riding around.  I pedaled faster and harder and got a good workout.  Part of my ride was on a road I've never been on before.  I took a couple pix along the way and headed for home.

Got any questions?
